Marvell Has a New Solid-State Memory Controller Chip for ExpressCard

Marvell will attempt to enter the fray with a product based on PCI Express technology. The company provided few details about the chip, but it did say the device supports up to 16-GB of storage and has a maximum burst throughput of 80-megabytes per second.

The 88NV8120 is compatible with both Microsoft Windows and Linux. The new flash controller supports ultra-slim drives that fit into a PCI ExpressCard, PCIeMini slot on a laptop or PCIe slot on a desktop. The flash controller is sampling.


Panasonic Introduces New P2 Drive With an ExpressCard Interface

Panasonic today announced at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas the company's new AJ-PCD35, a five-slot P2 solid-state memory drive with an ExpressCard interface that will dramatically increase simultaneous access to P2 content on ExpressCard-equipped notebook or desktop computers.
