Marvell will attempt to enter the fray with a product based on PCI Express technology. The company provided few details about the chip, but it did say the device supports up to 16-GB of storage and has a maximum burst throughput of 80-megabytes per second.
The 88NV8120 is compatible with both Microsoft Windows and Linux. The new flash controller supports ultra-slim drives that fit into a PCI ExpressCard, PCIeMini slot on a laptop or PCIe slot on a desktop. The flash controller is sampling.
