Leadtek announces external image and video processing box

Leadtek has announced an external Toshiba-SpursEngine based accelerator, for professional developers, called the external WinFast PxVC1100. The device has a Toshiba SpursEngine SE1000 chip, 128MB of XDR DRAM, and an ExpressCard interface. It weights 700grams (quite heavy for a portable device...).

The SpursEngine is 4-Cell RISC cores SPEs, dedicated hardward for decoding and encogind MPEG-2 or H.264 videos. It can be used to decode/encode four full-HD (1920x1080 progressive scan, 1080p) videos at once. It can be used for video processing, graphics computations and other applications.
