Allied Telesis launches world’s first ExpressCard Fast Ethernet fiber Network Interface Card

Allied Telesis has launched the AT-2812FX, the world's first Fast Ethernet fiber Network Interface Card (NIC) in the ExpressCard format. The card offer secure PCIe fiberwith an SC connector. The company calls this a 'green product' - engineered to reduce power consumption (using power management features).

The AT-2812FX features in-built cryptographic processors that take over a number of data encryption / decryption functions within the hardware itself, releasing the host CPU to perform other tasks. This ensures that the highest possible speeds when transmitting or receiving secure data, with no compromise on data security or host system performance.

The AT-2712FX, AT-2812FX and AT-2912T will be available from May 2009.
